Defex is developing self-teaching assembly robots for manufacturing, starting with connector assembly.

We are building around one loop: attempt an assembly, physically test the connection, then reset for the next try. The goal is less setup work for the next supported part variant.

21 factories on the paid waitlist as of September 17, 2026. They paid to hold a place before the first assembly cell ships.

Our visual-inspection prototype is built. The assembly cell is in development. The next milestone is an unattended attempt, test and reset loop, followed by learning measured against a scripted baseline on fresh parts.

The connection is the test.

The first application is connector assembly. Vision and force guide the insertion; electrical continuity and a mechanical engagement check evaluate the connection.

Practice and production are separate. Candidate skills are trained and evaluated on real parts. Production is designed to run only a qualified, approved skill.

We measure progress in setup time per variant, accepted output and operator interventions. These are the evaluation criteria, not published performance results.
