Much of electronics assembly is still done by hand, because programming a robot for each new part variant costs more than the robot saves. We are building a cell that assembles a connector, tests the joint it just made, resets and tries again. Every attempt is scored by a physical test, so a new variant takes practice instead of weeks of hand programming.

Eighteen months, two engineers and three cells, aimed at one milestone: the cell running attempt, test and reset unattended, and a learned skill beating a scripted baseline on fresh parts. That is the result the next round is priced on.
